Why don't we honour our nature ?

As a person who grew up in South East Asia, I still remember........ when I was kid my parents always told me to drink Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorhizza) or Turmeric (Curcuma longa) juice. They told me these bitter-taste juices would make good-health for me. That's all they said.

This blog is dedicated for any Medicinal Herbs especially Asian-originated herbs.

You can find many Asian-originated herbs on my blog and also please ask me if you have any question by leaving a comment. I'll be glad to answer as long as I can help.

Cheers

Appetite stimulant for kids: Temulawak syrup -Traditional way

I have this experience some years ago..even after their mom rotate our kids' menu, this did not solve the problem. At last, I came to my parents, and they suggested me to try the tradional way. Do you want to know what they suggested us ? Yes, they suggested us to do the same way they did to me when I was kid, --> Medicinal herbs or Jamu. :)

Much to my surprise, a friend of mine sent me a literature on Curcuma xanthorrhiza clinical trial, held in a University Hospital in East Java. When I read that literature, I found out that beside of its effect as hepatopretector, Curcuma xanthorrhiza also shown a potential as appetite stimulant. They said that active component of Curcuma xanthorhizza i.e Curcuminoid and its essential oil has been tried for almost 2 years and shown good result.

Therefore, without any hesitate, I went to drugstore and bought some Curcumin-based syrup (Temulawak syrup) as appetite stimulant for kids. Hoping that everything would be allright, I started to give my son curcumin syrup, after 7 days of its usage, my son shown significant change in his appetite. This what I want to share with whom that have any problem with their kids' appetite.

I hope someday I could post that literature, cause it was written in Indonesian language and I need extra time to translate it.

Hi there!
When i was little mom gave me a appetite stimulant and it worked wonders, my sis did the same years later with my nephew and i know exactly the name for it an all but, the main problem is that it is in CHILE and i don't think they make it anymore... and i wish i had it to give it to my picky 4 y.o. son.
My question to you is, where may i get this you are talking abut? Is there a "fantasy' name or such? or should i just go to any drugstore and ask for it? I live in NC, USA.
You might send me an email if you'd like to chileanheart@live.com
Thanks!!!
