Why don't we honour our nature ?

As a person who grew up in South East Asia, I still remember........ when I was kid my parents always told me to drink Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorhizza) or Turmeric (Curcuma longa) juice. They told me these bitter-taste juices would make good-health for me. That's all they said.

This blog is dedicated for any Medicinal Herbs especially Asian-originated herbs.

You can find many Asian-originated herbs on my blog and also please ask me if you have any question by leaving a comment. I'll be glad to answer as long as I can help.

Cheers

Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.

Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.:

    * Family: Zingiberaceae (Ginger Family)
    * Genus: Curcuma
    * Local Name: Temulawak, Koneng gede, Temo labak
    * Scientific Name: Curcuma xanthorrhiza

Curcuma xanthorrhiza is ginger family (Zingiberaceae) member. Cultivated in Java at 1800m alt, with pale yellow rhizome, reddish white and yellow flower; This strong fragrant and bitter medicinal herb is widely used in Indonesia for its effect. Almost all Indonesian Jamu consist of Temulawak.

I personally believe that this herb's rhizome is the most powerful herbal medicine in this country cause of its curcuminoid and essential oil combination.

Medicinal Properties:

* anti-oxidant;
* hepatoprotector;
* appetite stimulant;
* immunostimulator;
* anti: -viral, -bacterial effects

Ginger is one of my favourite herbs. I used to mix it with garlic and hot water when I had a cold. It tastes terrible but I found it affective

The role of herbs in health also has a lot to do with coherent light therapy, I think. After all, light is what helps those herbs grow in the first place! I recommend you check it out 'cuz I know you're into the more rigorous stuff like that.
